Audiologist and Speech Therapist Databases: Two Small Specialties, Two Very Different Markets

September 29, 2026

The network includes two hearing and communication specialties that look similar on paper but sell very differently: 24,047 audiologists and 188,431 speech therapists. The speech therapist file is roughly 7.8 times larger, and the buyers on each side have almost nothing in common.

Audiologists

Hearing aid manufacturers, diagnostic and testing equipment makers, and software vendors for hearing clinics are the usual buyers of the audiologist database. Audiology is a small, tight community where most practices are either independent clinics, ENT affiliated offices, or hospital based departments. Because there are only 24,047 records nationwide, a focused campaign can realistically cover every audiologist in a target region.

Speech therapists

The speech therapist database attracts a different crowd. Teletherapy platforms, therapy materials publishers, education technology companies, and staffing firms recruit from this file. Many speech language pathologists work in schools, hospitals, and rehabilitation settings rather than private offices, so the practice address on a record can point to an institution. That is useful if you sell to school districts or health systems, and worth keeping in mind if you are pitching an individual clinician.

Where each specialty concentrates

Audiologists follow the usual big state pattern: California has 1,939, Texas 1,718, New York 1,691, and Florida 1,487. Speech therapists break from it. New York alone has 24,175, more than double California's 11,010, with Texas at 16,429 and Florida at 10,857. If you sell into speech therapy and start with California by habit, you would be starting in the wrong place.

Choosing between the two files

If your product is a physical device or a clinical instrument, the audiologist file is usually the better fit. If it is a service, a curriculum, or a software platform, look at the speech therapist file first. Companies that touch both, such as pediatric hearing and language development programs, can combine the two.
